8/7: Boston De-Militarized Zone (DMZ) commemorating Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Join the Socialist Party of Boston and the Stop the Wars Coalition on the third Friday of every month, 5 pm at the corner of Mass Ave. and Boylston St., to establish a De-Militarized Zone (DMZ) where all those who wish can congregate to denigrate and repudiate the war machine and celebrate the movement against war and oppression.

Bring your signs and minds, ready to chalk, talk, play music, paint art, and sing leftist songs with caring and sharing, in unity declaring that we are "chilling against the villins" in this zone to show our independence from the state.

This DMZ falls between August 6th and 9th, the days in 1945 when the United States gratuitously dropped nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Despite a commitment to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty in 1970 to work toward disarmament, the United States stockpiles these weapons of mass destruction. Because of our illegal wars of aggression, tyrannical and unstable regimes around the world seek nuclear weapons as their only hope to deter the United States. Israel's nuclear weapons contribute to destabilizing the middle east. Please consider bringing messages to this DMZ to remember the 64th anniversary of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and to call upon our government to dismantle these awful weapons once and for all.
