March 21st report back
Greg, Peter and Billy reported on the March 21st DC anti-war mobilization. Six SPUSA members attended. The march was small (maybe 3,000) but a good event and the Party did outreach and had a chance to discuss Virginia organizing with Brandon and Reagan.

The Socialist
Bill reported that the May Day issue is going to press. Ads came in, but most from the SPUSA, there didn't seem to be any push for ads from other groups or from international organizations. The magazine should be mailed/delivered on schedule.

Upcoming Wall St. Demonstrations
Greg reported on the upcoming demonstrations planned for Wall St. on April 3rd and 4th. The action on the 3rd is being called by Bail Out the People Campaign and April 4th action is being called by United for Peace and Justice.

Motion: To direct the National Secretary to work with the New York City Local to organize a contingent at the April 3rd mobilization on Wall St, and a contingent and literature table at the April 4thdemonstartion. Motion passed unanimously.

Upcoming IMF Demonstration
Greg reported on the April 24-26, 2009 IMF/World Bank protests scheduled for Washington DC. The 24th-25th will be CD/ direct actions and teach-ins and the 26th will be a permitted march.

Motion: To endorse the April 24-26th protests around the World Bank and IMF Spring meetings in Washington DC. The National Secretary is directed to help organize a contingent at the permitted march on April 26th and to help members organize a Socialist Party affinity group/s if they decide to. Motion passed unanimously.

Fundraising Committee Plan
Matthew Andrews submitted the following proposal from the Fundraising Committee:

SP
RING 2009 FUND RAISING PLAN
Proposed by the SPUSA Fundraising Committee February 28th, 2009
1) Earmark Letter for Greg’s paid hours
Jerry Levy is calling our top donors to raise matching funds for the fundraising letter.  The letter specifically appeals for donations to meet the expense we took on by increasing Greg’s work week.  The letter will go out March 1st.
2) Organize volunteers for a week of renewal phone calls
The Fundraising Committee will contact state and local contacts to solicit help in a week of phone banking for membership renewals.  Greg will help divide up names and numbers with priority given to local contacts.  Volunteers will be given a script and a form to report back.  At large members will be called by Fundraising Committee members.
3) Inform members of Dues Installment Plans in Hammer & Tongs, The Organizer
4) Reform the Sustainers Club
Raise the minimum ask to $40.  Union-printed membership cards.  New lapel pins.
5) Promote Bea Hermann Travel fund with National Convention
        Encourage donations
        Encourage grant requests
6) Assessment Stamps for select campaigns and commissions
Anti-imperialism, War at Home, Socialize Health Care, The Socialist and Socialist Women
7) Letter and phone bank follow up with 2008 campaign contributors
We have gotten a list of contacts from Stewart Alexander.  Brian Moore has promised to get us his list soon.  Most of these people are non-members who may join or contribute.

The report was discussed and Jerry Levy noted that there was a missing section:

8) To call Party Locals and help organize at least one local/national fundraiser during the calendar year.

Motion: To accept the Fundraising Committee report with the additional point added by Jerry  Levy. Motion passed unanimously.
